On March 12, 2018, we went to chobar to collect the mugwort plant (Artemisia indica) with our classmate, third-year student, and teachers. We went there by reserving the bus. At 7:00 am we catch a bus from our college and reached our destination around 9:00 Am which was really fun and lots of excitement. we have learned theory about the mugwort plant and the main purpose to use mugwort plant in traditional Chinese medicine in our college but we were not sure which plant that has been used from the ancient period to till for Moxibustion. After visiting the field we learned that there are lots of species of mugwort plant and all of them are not suitable for making a moxa and we were supposed to collect only the Artemesia indica species. The main purpose to collect Artemisia indica was, high quality of moxa can be produced from it among others species and it is easily found almost every part of Nepal. We spend time at chobar about three hours and collected mugwort plant and went to moxa factory to see what they do after collecting. We reached there at 1:30 pm and saw the processing of mugwort plant.

First of all the fresh mugwort pant were spread it out to dry in natural sunlight it might take 7 to 8 days to dry completely or even more and then it is ready for grinding. Grinding is done on the big stone mill where it crushed the dried mugwort plant and separate moxa wool and impurities. These grinding includes three processes. After finishing the grinding it is kept on another machine for purification and finally, the high quality of moxa wool and impurities are separated and then it is ready to make a moxa stick and other stuff.

A journey that changed my life.

Nepal Branch Posted on Thu, January 04, 2018 16:26:03

Life is all about faith and destiny. I have accepted that the life can bring anything which we never know in advance.

Hello everyone,

My name is Anjali Tamang.

I have done 3 years of acupuncture course in the Rural Health Education and Service Centre which is the first acupuncture school in Nepal.

I am very thankful to TCM – Social Forum – Chinese Medicine across Borders for their support and that they provided me the opportunity to join the acupuncture school.

Thank you so much for all, for your support and love.

In 2009, I was introduced with the team of acupuncture practitioners of TCM-Social Forum in the free clinic of Benchen monastery, where I met Sylvia Köhn-Pandey and other practitioners.

At that time, I came to the clinic for treatment. I had chronical sore throat which used to appear 2-3 times a month. They gave me some Chinese herbs with acupuncture treatment. That really helped me and I was very impressed with this treatment. I was very much interested what they were doing. So I helped them in translation in their consulting hours and teachings. I could learn a lot from this activity.

I am not a trained translator. Whatever I have learnt, I have learnt by myself…also from my mistakes. I’ve never given up, instead I’ve learnt. I believe that you learn by your mistakes. So, it’s okay to make mistakes in order to learn and gain experiences. In this way, I have improved myself and I would say this is a good achievement of my life so far and I am here now.

I am thankful to Sylvia, who believed in me and motivated me in each and every situation.
After few years, in 2013 , an acupuncture school opened in Kathmandu. With the help of TCM-Social Forum and after experiencing the work with different volunteers also from other NGOs, I joined the school and passed with good results.

In 2016, TCM-Social Forum founded a new branch in Nepal called ‘Chinese Medicine Across Borders Nepal’. With a group of young people, I have the valuable task to be the chairwoman of the branch. Our main target is to establish acupuncture in Nepal.

We give opportunity to the talented young people for acupuncture education as well as we support children to go to school. So, that at the end they can have the chance to join TCM class/ school. And even after the acupuncture school, we want to help the students to establish a clinic in their village and try to send volunteers time to time that they will be motivated and can also exchange their knowledge of TCM.

In this way, we try to keep young people in the country that they don’t go abroad for work away from home, away from their family and friends.

We think this is the only possibility to develop.

One opportunity for financial support we got from one volunteer from Switzerland. Sascha is a shiatsu therapist. He found out good quality of woolen blankets and shawls from Nepal. I organize those blankets to send to Switzerland and he sells them to interested people and donate the profit to TCM Social Forum.

Besides this, I am working in the Benchen free clinic in Kathmandu in the acupuncture department.

In May 2017, I was invited to Germany for an exchange of experiences and ideas with TCM practitioners in the western world and gave a speech during the 48th TCM congress in Rothenberg od Tauber. I was also invited in a school and gave a lecture about the life in Nepal and the benefits of TCM in front of fascinated students in a class 6.
That was my first time that I was out of Nepal, first time I flew. Flying soooooo high for the first time was really amazing experience I have ever had. Things what I have only seen on photos or TV…. When I saw beautiful things and places, i found life … amazing. I had no words to express my feelings. I really enjoyed my trip.

I have also visited some volunteers of TCM Social Forum (friends) and their clinics. In their clinic, they have two rooms. one for treatment and one for to talk with patients and diagnose the problems. They don’t give only acupuncture but also work with herbs and some use homeopathy and give advices for lifestyle changes. They also give yoga classes. Once I had also participated yoga class and I do sometimes yoga in my room as well.
In Berlin, I have visited the refugee clinic before I moved to Rothenberg. This clinic is a project which is supported byTCM Social Forum. Volunteers give acupuncture treatment together with NADA protocol to the refugees.

I really had a great great great time.
Thanks to TCM Social Forum once again for inviting me and I hope in the future also I can get some opportunities to join the congress for sharing new experiences and to learn more about TCM .

I got back to my home with a lot of beautiful memories and good impressions.

Thank You For Reading My Article.
May Peace Be With Me And With You All.

TCM School Sponsorships Nepal Posted on Sun, November 26, 2017 05:58:50

Our three years Acupuncture courses are divided into three branches. The first year is about science the next two year we have to study about TCM means ancient traditional Chinese medicine. In the first year, we all struggle to study the course of science. We had done so many theory classes and practical classes in chemistry, botany, zoology, physics, mathematics and basic computer as well.

Now I want to write about our examination; There were three exams, the first term, second term and third term exam for that we tried our best to get good results and finally there was a final examination (CTEVT examination) it has started from August-4-2017 for 10 days in that time we tried again to get good result. Then we have to wait for a couple of months to know the results of the first year. In that time our big festival called Dashain and Tihar occurred and we had a vacation for a month from college. In that vacation I spent a good time with my family and relatives as well, I would like to write the little bit about Dashain and Tihar.

Dashain- during the month of Kartik(late September and early October) the Nepalese people indulge in the biggest festival of the year Dashain, Dashain is the longest and the most auspicious festival. The 15 days of celebration occur during the bright lunar fortnight ending of the day full moon throughout the kingdom of Nepal the Goddess Durga in all her manifestations are worshiped with innumerable pujas ,and thousands of animals like goat, buffalo’s, chicken, pork sacrifices for the ritual holy bathing thus dancing the Goddess for days in blood. Dashain commemorates a great victory of the Gods over the demons. The first nine days signify the nine days of ferrous battle between Goddess Durga and the demon Maisasur. The tenth the day when Maisasur was slain and the last five days symbolize the celebration of the victory with the blessing of the Goddess. In preparation for Dashain, every home is cleansed and beautifully decorated, painted as an invitation to the mother Goddess so that she may visit and bless the house with good fortune. During this time the market is filled with shoppers seeking new clothing, gift, luxuries and enormous supplies of temple offering for the God. All type of organisms will be closed for ten to fifteen days. The first nine days are called Navaratri at that time they worshiped the Durga (God) known as Devi in many forms. the first day is called Ghatasthapana(holy water vessel) symbolizing Goddess Durga with her image embossed on the side is placed in the prayer room combining with san soil, seven different types of grains and kalash. All the people worshiped the Kalash twice a day morning and evening, day by day the grains sprinkled with holy water and it is shielded from direct sunlight. By the tenth day the seed will have grown to five or six inches long yellow grass called Jamara and by the tenth days it will bestow from the elder a top of a head during last five days when Tika is put on. The Jamara is taken as a token of Goddess Durga as well as the elder blessing. The eight-day is called maha asthami the favor of worship and sacrifice to Durga and Kali. The ninth day is called Nawami, the temple of Durga filled with people for worship. The tenth day is Dashai, on this day we take tika from elders receiving their blessing, we visit our elders in their home and get tika jamara from them while our relatives come to our home to receive the blessing from the head of our family. The important of Dashain also lies in the fact that on this day family members from far off and distant relatives come for visit as well as to receive tika from the head of the family, this function continues for four days of rushing around and meeting relatives. Dashain ends on the full moon day.

Tihar:-Tihar festival is the second biggest festival in Nepal it is celebrated for five days. It is considered to be a great important as it shows reverence to not just the human and the Gods but also to the animals like crows, cows, and dogs that intimate relationship with a human. The first day of Tihar is to worship the crows (the messenger of death). People often sprinkle rice on the ground for crows pecking. The second day of Tihar is to honor dog (the guardian of the God of death). The third day is to welcome the Goddess Laxmi. The fourth day is to thanks, crows and the fifth day is called Vai Tika on this day brother and sister will gather together and accept Tihar quotes on their forehead, after placing the multi-colored Tika and splendid garlands to the brother and the brother would follow the same ritual to put Tika on their sister and gave them some money as we can give in return. This celebration enhanced the close relationship between brother and sister. On that time from the third day, all friends gather together to enjoy playing called deusi and vailo one by one every house of our village with singing and dancing. It goes until three day that means the Tihar will finish the next day of Vai Tika.

Again I would like to write about our second-year course. It has been started from November-17th -whichever includes the following subjects-General medicine,-Acupressure,-Pathology,-Basic theory of oriental medicine,-Diagnosis,-Therapeutic relationship,-Acupoints and Moxibustion. The classes are running very interestingly, we have to study through ancient Chinese Philosophy, Which is very helpful and trying to take as much as we can from our teachers, also looking forward to making it better.

At last, I really want to say thank you so much for the great support and I am looking forward to continued support from TCM social forum.

I didn’t write down a report for a long time because we were busy for our final exam and after that, we headed back to our village to celebrate the big festival called Dashain and Tihar with our families and relatives. Here Dashain and Tihar is the most important and biggest festival of our country where we celebrate this festival with joy and sharing the happiness with each other in family member by putting the tika of different color in the forehead which symbolizes the love and respect towards the family, and to be successful, healthy, and wealthy in every step of life. It is always good to spend little more time with families and relatives, especially in the festival because all the family member just gather around in one place whether they live in different places.

To be honest, last year it was pretty hard for me in studying because I had to study science. Actually, it’s been almost 10 years that I left the study. Papers of the chemistry and the math weren’t gone so well as I thought. I know it will take time to recover and I’m getting through it. I still believe that this is not the end of my journey. So, it won’t stop me from my duty and go further in my way of acupuncture. Rest of the papers was gone nicely so far. Those two papers, I might have to give them this year and I’m ready for that too. I’m not going to lose my potential.

This year the class has been started already. Subjects are so interesting such as Therapeutic, Pathology, General medicine, Acupoints and Diagnosis, Acupressure and Oriental Massage, Basic Theory of Oriental Medicine and Moxibustion. We are very excited to learn that in the way of Chinese philosophy how meridians run, which one is the pair of them, how Qi flows inside and outside of our body, yin-yang theory as well as some Chinese diagnosis. It is quite amazing to learn new things. Diagnosis technique is different from Allopathic which makes even interesting. Some of the subjects are also related to last year like Anatomy and Microbiology and which are very helpful too.

At last, I am very thankful to this organization for providing this great opportunity and letting us know about acupuncture, which with we can help our community.

First year of acupuncture
course has been finished. It was little challenging for us subject were too
many. Especially we have to study science which was obviously the hard part.

On 1st year, the college took examination three times such as
first, second and third terminal examination. We participated to all of them.
We also had participated in the final examination which was held on August by
CTEVT and now we’re waiting for the result.

On 1st year we did practical for several subject such as
physics, chemistry, biology and computer which was the most exciting part for

Teachers were friendlier than we thought. Although we came to
know that the course which we are studying is only a diploma course. Here
diploma course means the course is affiliated by CTEVT(Council for Technical
Education and Vocational Training) where we get the license or certificate for
B-level which doesn’t give authority to run our own clinic and treat patient
but we can do treatment under the surveillance of other doctors in their
hospital. But if we study the bachelor in acupuncture then the government of Nepal
give authority to run our own clinic and give certificate of A-level which is
consider as the doctor.

The college runs six days a week we got free once a week and
all government holidays too. It was little frustrating last year because
everything was new. We never stayed for long period of time from our parents
but slowly everything was under control.

Now second year of acupuncture class has started from
October 4, 2017. It’s been a month now. Finally, from second year we study about
the history of Traditional Chinese medicine, Acupoints and diagnosis, General
medicine, Acupressure, Moxibustion and Pathology. This year college starts from
morning (7:00 am to 12:00 pm) for five days. Saturday is for clinical practice
where we observe the treatment done by third year TCM students but we are not
allowed to touch or manipulate the patients. Sunday is holiday for us.

At last we would like to express big thanks towards the
organization TCM social Forum who sponsor us for studying Acupuncture in Nepal.
We truly appreciate the continued support and very generous donation. The
contribution will dramatically help us to develop and successes in future. With
out this generosity we would not able to aim high and reach our potential.
Thanks again for this generous and continuous support.

Sprechstunde im HeileHaus

Flüchtlingsinitiative Berlin Posted on Fri, October 20, 2017 16:35:18

Ohrakupunktur hier NADA – Protokoll

Tuina Massage

TCM School Sponsorships Nepal Posted on Wed, May 24, 2017 16:17:27

My journey of acupuncture has been started with the help of TCM sozial forum. I’m very thankful to this organization for providing me this great opportunity, which means a lot for me and I feel so lucky to have friends like Sascha Kuster, Sylvia Kon Pandey, and Anjali is taking good care of us and also we would like to thank her for that.

We go to school to learn more from teachers as well as friends with new hope and we love to learn that way by sharing. We have the good relationship between teachers and students. We have done some practical classes as well. It feels really nice to learn with practice and easy to memorize, which is very helpful for us.

We just finished our midterm examination and it went very well and I put every effort to get through of it. we had days off for few days after the examination. We went our village there was election held by Government of Nepal. We took place in the election. We return back to Kathmandu on Friday because from Tuesday school has started as usual and everything is going well. Everyone is friendly. I think if people were friendlier around us then it makes easier to do something or learn smoothly.

At last, I would like to say thank to TCM sozial forum Switzerland and TCM sozial forum Germany. Always look forward to work with this organization and very proud to be a part of it.
